Actuated Valve Package for £39m Water Treatment Works

For a new water treatment works being built by South East Water in Kent UK, the first to be built in the county for nearly two decades, this advantage is what put T-T Flow® above the competition.

The Problem

The new £39 million water treatment works site will supply up to 20 million litres of water a day to the busy local area. As part of its construction, our valve experts were approached for a single source actuated isolation valve package with extension spindles for reliable remote flow control on the site.

The Solution

Our engineers worked alongside South East Water’s appointed framework contractor to select bi-directional eccentric plug valves that suit the hydraulic profile and media requirements of the application.

The selected valves comprise a ductile iron body with stainless-steel weld overlay seats, stem sleeves and fastenings for corrosion resistance, as well as an integral ISO5211 interface that allowed for easy actuation.

Rotork IQTM modulating actuators were chosen due to the site’s flow control requirements, several of which were fitted with battery backup in order to ensure operation continued during a power outage event. All actuators were fitted with 4-20mA position feedback to allow for local SCADA connectivity and were assembled and functioned tested on site at T-T HQ for trouble free operation upon delivery.

Two DN150 and fourteen DN200 actuated eccentric plug valves were delivered to the site, along with custom fabricated extension spindles for ergonomic remote operation, within the project’s timeframe.
