Control Valves for Sewage Treatment Works

When the appointed valve framework provider failed to deliver an actuated control valve package for use at Dunstable Sewage Treatment Works, T-T Flow® stepped in to ensure the project was completed within the original timescale.

The Problem

Dunstable Sewage Treatment Works is a major treatment plant to the west of Luton in Bedfordshire. During work at the site, there was a requirement for an actuated valve package. Unfortunately, the appointed valve framework provider failed to deliver the package in time to meet the original timescale, jeopardising project delivery for which the contractor risked being penalised. 

T-T Flow® was engaged to size actuators to efficiently operate valves against site-specific hydraulic conditions. Having extensive stockholding of waterworks gate, check, air and control valves together with our in-house electro-mechanical workshops staffed by skilled Auma-trained engineers, T-T was the ideal single-source partner to deliver on time.

The Solution

T-T Flow® supplied three DN100 Eccentric Plug Valves, manufactured to AWWA C517 and rated to 16 Bar. These are fitted with directly mounted Auma actuators to facilitate intelligent remote operation and accurate flow throttling.  

T-T Flow’s full-port eccentric plug valve features an interference fit stainless steel stem sleeve, reducing the risk of failure associated with competitors' products. It is constructed with a corrosion-resistant stainless steel (1.4404 / AISI 316L) seat, robust fusion bonded epoxy coating and integral ISO5211 interface for cost-effective actuation.  

Our highly trained engineers were able to assemble and function test the actuated valves before dispatch to ensure trouble-free installation and commissioning, resulting in a very happy client.
