T-T Flow® Resolves Persistent Valve Issues for United Utilities

A framework contractor working on behalf of United Utilities approached T-T Flow® to resolve issues with four persistently problematic valves that had become costly to maintain. The four DN800 tilting disc check valves, supplied by a nominated framework valve holder, were installed in a critical pump house essential to the region’s water supply.

Client Challenges

Upon investigation, T-T identified significant installation issues, including incorrect valve sizing and poor valve design, which had led to increased wear and reduced lifespan. A reassessment of the hydraulic parameters was required to provide a long-term, efficient solution.

Following a comprehensive consultation, T-T supplied four engineered DN600 slanted seat check valves designed for improved performance.

These valves featured:

• Slanted seats to minimise slamming effects
• A fully maintainable stainless steel integral damper mechanism, allowing maintenance without costly removal from the pipeline

As the manufacturer, T-T maintained complete control over the valve design and material selection, ensuring a trouble-free operation and extended lifespan. The project was completed smoothly and on schedule, leaving United Utilities highly satisfied with the results.
