Durig a wastewater pumping station upgrade at Bescot Stadium in Walsall, home to Walsall FC since 1990, T-T were called upon to supply replacement non-return valves for the system.

Metal seat swing check valves were chosen for their suitability in backflow prevention in pumped applications. Ensuring the integrity of the station’s piping system was paramount for protecting the Football Club’s ground as reverse flow could lead to overflows, structural damage, major disruptions and environmental pollution.

Due to the potentially corrosive and abrasive nature of the pumped waste, the specified valves were constructed from high-strength ductile iron and coated in a corrosion resistant fusion bonded epoxy for consistent long-term performance.

Durability and wear resistance are further guaranteed with the inclusion of machined copper-alloy seats that facilitate tight sealing when the direction of flow reverses, with shaft supporting self-lubricating bushes that reduce operating friction.

The inclusion of large inspection covers allows for station operatives to complete visual inspections and maintenance without needing to remove the valves from the pipeline, reducing the downtime required to complete essential routine servicing of the system.
