The Problem

A new Traction Substation being built at London Euston for a planned HS2 Station will convert electrical power into a form suitable for the new rail system.

Due to the critical role the station will play in the new HS2 line, ensuring all equipment is long-lasting and effective was a priority for the primary contractor.

The site approached T-T Flow® to supply a suitable penstock isolation valve that would provide consistent and reliable operation.

The Solution

Our valve experts worked alongside the project’s principal contractor to carefully assess the needs of the site, specifying a 150x150 penstock isolation valve complete with a site-adjustable straight extension spindle for the application.

T-T Flow® penstocks are designed and manufactured in the UK and consist of a bi-directional sealing square aperture that acts via a non-rising spindle, with a closed frame that offers increased structural integrity and protection from any debris or sediment.

Resilient sealing to all four sides of the valve and self-adjusting gate seals ensure consistent and DIN 19569 compliant sealing, while the AISI 304 stainless steel construction provides corrosion resistance and strength for maximum reliability.

The penstock features precision-machined polyethylene guides for accurate sealing and reduced operating friction that increases overall lifespan, with a lightweight design and flush invert that facilitate uninterrupted flow through the valve aperture for maximum system efficiency.
