Introducing: Accessible Hydropower from T-T

Easy Hydro and T-T are taking strides in accessible renewable energy with the introduction of their low-cost hydropower solution, now available in the UK from T-T Pumps®.
Using Pump as Turbine (PAT) technology, where conventional water pumps are installed into water networks and ran in reverse to generate electricity, we are offering small-scale sustainable hydropower that can generate up to and above 500kW to be used locally or transferred to the grid.
This system not only generates sustainable energy, but also mitigates excess pressure accumulation commonly found in water networks – offering a green alternative to traditional control or pressure reducing valves.
Utilising water pumps to harness this untapped energy potential costs a fraction of traditional custom-made hydro turbines, as well as benefiting from lower installation costs and simpler water pump maintenance.
PAT technology can be integrated into a variety of applications, with a minimum pressure requirement of 1 bar and flow rate of 4/ls - turbine configurations include SAER end suction, inline, multistage and split case pump models.
Case Study – Energy Recovery at an Underground Mine
An energy recovery system, consisting of two turbines and SAER pumps, was recently designed and installed at the waste outfall of an active underground mine.
In November 2023, the modular hydro solution was implemented as an integral part of the water management infrastructure of the mine. Since then, the low-cost turbines have been providing 20% of the energy needed to power the site’s water treatment plant and minimising the environmental impact of the site’s mineral extraction operations.
