At a project at Sovereign Harbour Retail Park, we transformed a vulnerable public drainage system into a robust, reliable asset. Located in the heart of Eastbourne, the retail park experiences heavy visitor traffic throughout the year, with summer holiday periods bringing a dramatic surge in footfall.
The development includes two globally recognised, high-volume food and beverage operators, a worldwide fast-food chain restaurant brand famous for its golden arches and a leading UK high street coffeehouse chain known for its distinctive burgundy branding.
While these brands are major drivers of customer activity, high public usage also creates one of the most persistent challenges in wastewater management.
In environments like this, the greatest threat isn’t flow capacity, it’s what people accidentally flush.
Wet wipes, sanitary products, food packaging and other non-flushable materials are common causes of ragging, blockages and pump failure in public systems.

The Solution
