T-T Celebrates Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with 200 New Trees

T-T has celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee by planting 200 new trees at its Onneley headquarters, continuing its long-standing commitment to environmental sustainability through its tree planting programme, which has been running for over 20 years.

The new trees are part of the nationwide Queen’s Green Canopy initiative, a campaign to honor Her Majesty’s 70 years of service while creating a lasting green legacy. With over 60,000 trees already planted as part of the initiative, T-T is proud to contribute to this significant environmental effort.

Tree planting has been a key component of T-T’s environmental strategy for decades. The latest addition joins 100 trees planted in winter 2021 and 250 more in early 2020. The company’s woodland site near Woore spans over two acres and is home to a diverse array of species, including Red Oak, Lime, Cherry, Alder, Beech, Birch, and Willow.

This initiative is part of T-T’s continued commitment to offsetting its carbon footprint, with the work being overseen by its dedicated ‘Green Team’. The team is responsible for the company’s environmental projects, with tree planting serving as a prominent focal point.

Lloyd Swale, Electrical Engineering Apprentice and Green Team member, shared his pride in the project:  “The Green Team is proud to be part of the T-T tree planting scheme, especially as this year we can combine it with the Queen’s Green Canopy.”

Joining Lloyd in the effort were Maria Vasconcelos, Stock Controller; Gareth Reece, T-T Flow Sales Engineer; Theo Nash, Electrical Engineering Apprentice; and Jaxon Housley, Electro-Mechanical Apprentice.

T-T’s commitment to environmental sustainability is further demonstrated by its ISO 14001 accreditation for Environmental Management. Other green initiatives led by the Green Team include sustainable packaging, paper reduction, and a car-sharing programme.

Managing Director Bob Nash commented:  “Tree planting has always been a fundamental part of our environmental strategy, and this is just one of the many ways we are working to reduce our carbon footprint. We are delighted to be involved in the Queen’s Green Canopy, a unique scheme that will create a legacy in honour of the Queen and benefit future generations.”
