T-T is proud to announce its nomination for the prestigious International Trade Award, marking a significant milestone in our expansion into global markets. With over 57 years of expertise in the UK market, our growing product range has naturally attracted international attention, leading us to explore new opportunities overseas.
Our journey into international trade began six years ago when we had the opportunity to supply our Planet® Range of package pumping stations to China. Encouraged by this success, we sought advice from UKTI to strategically expand our exports. The Middle East quickly became a key focus, leading to our participation in the Big 5 International Building and Construction Show in Dubai in 2014 and 2015. This exhibition proved instrumental, enabling us to forge strong business connections and secure significant orders through our newly established network.
Recent International Success
One of our landmark projects involved supplying fourteen complete sets of large water pumps to a Dubai-based company for fire and cooling water provision at a power station. These specialist pumps, consisting of a split-case pump and motor mounted on baseplates, marked the beginning of our Middle Eastern export ambitions, with the contract valued at approximately £390,000.
Additionally, our valves division has seen frequent international orders, often requiring modifications to meet regional requirements. For example, when supplying air valves to a pumping system in Tung Chung, Hong Kong, we had to upgrade materials to withstand the corrosive effects of saltwater in their wastewater disposal system. To further support international clients, we have optimized our website with currency conversion, translation tools, and search engine optimisation tailored for overseas markets.
Meeting International Standards
As we expand globally, we recognise the importance of adapting to diverse business cultures and standards. Our team undergoes regular training, including UKTI courses, to ensure we meet international business etiquette and client expectations. We have also refined our technical literature to include pictorial diagrams for clearer communication.
Looking ahead, we are excited to return to the Big 5 in 2016 while also broadening our focus to the European market. The IFAT exhibition in Munich presents new opportunities, and we have already begun redesigning certain products to meet European specifications. Unlike the Middle East, which widely accepts British standards, Europe has different requirements, particularly in valve design. However, our established presence in the European market has enabled us to secure exhibition space at industry-leading events like IFAT, further cementing our reputation as a globally recognised brand.
