Rapid Response and Restoration of a Pumping Station

The Problem

T-T received an urgent after-hours call at 9:00 pm from a customer reporting a broken-down pumping station on a large housing development. The customer noted that the control panel appeared to have been tampered with. Understanding the critical nature of the situation, the T-T Service® team reassured the customer that the station was designed to hold 24 hours of inflow in the event of a breakdown. A breakdown service visit was promptly scheduled for 7:00 am the following morning. 

The Solution 

Upon arrival, the service team conducted a comprehensive site assessment. Their investigation revealed that modifications had been made to the control panel, bypassing the normal operating parameters of the pump station. To address the issue effectively, the following steps were taken: 

• The pumps were lifted from the chamber, cleaned, stripped, and examined to ensure they met operational tolerances
• A tanker company was coordinated to empty the chamber and clear away any debris
• After cleaning, the pumps were reinstalled in the chamber, and the station was refilled with clean water to verify proper operation
• The service engineers advised restoring the pump station to the correct standard and recommended an upgrade to meet adoptable standards
• Following these measures, the pumps functioned correctly, and the pumping station was returned to full operational capacity

The Outcome 

The customer was highly satisfied with the quick and efficient resolution of the issue. Impressed by T-T's rapid response and technical expertise, they requested additional work to bring the station up to standard and engaged T-T for ongoing full-service maintenance until adoption.
