Swing Check Valves for Shard Fire Sprinkler System

Diligent valve selection is important for performance and efficiency in any application, but for critical health and safety systems expert specification is vital to ensuring proper operation.

The Problem

During the refurbishment of the Shard’s fire sprinkler system, the T-T Flow® team were selected to supply swing check valves for installation.

Due to the key role of the life-saving system in protecting the UK’s tallest building and the people within, especially careful valve selection was required to ensure the integrity of the sprinkler system.

The Solution

The experts in T-T Flow® supplied a carbon steel body swing check valve rated to 50 bar that satisfied the application’s hydraulic and dimensional requirements, avoiding the need for costly additional pipework amendments in the system.

Swing check valves are designed to prevent pipeline backflow in pumped and gravity applications, with this model flanged to ANSI B16.5 and compliant with BS1868.

Our check valves feature stainless-steel precision machine seats for optimal sealing performance, supported by a stainless-steel shaft with self-lubricating bronze bushes, a carbon steel body and a corrosion-resistant coating that guarantees a long-lasting and reliable reverse-flow solution for the critical application.
